Hey babes💕 How are things going? I hope you’re all alright😊 As you might know from my previous post, I’ve moved to Sweden and startet a new job here🙈 I’m working in online marketing for a company that’s in the field of education management and I wanna tell you a bit about my first week🤩 Also, I have a few tips on how to survive the first week on a new job, which can be quite scary sometimes, so just keep on reading😊

The first thing I did to prepare was “going to work” the weekend before. That way, I already knew where to get out of the metro station, how long it would take me to get to the office, and I wouldn’t have to worry about not knowing where to go on Monday morning👏🏼
Everyone who has ever started a new job knows that the first weeks are very stressful because there’s so much to learn and you get overflowed with new information. Don’t let that stress you out! Take your time to get used to all the new processes at your own pace.
I was blessed with the greatest team of collegues I have worked with so far!🤩 They were super welcoming and wanted me to know that I should not feel pressured or stressed by all the new information, that I would certainly get used to it after a few weeks, and that I could always always always ask anyone for help if I needed it! That made me feel extremely secured and welcomed straight away😊😍

To get to know the team and the tasks as best as possible during my first week, I spent a lot of time in meetings with the different team members telling me all about their daily working schedules.
Our office is super cozy! It is a very open space but we have a lot of small meeting rooms you can book whenever you need some quite time to talk on the phone or to conduct meetings😊

Getting used to the new schedule of working 40 hours a week was quite hard on me. Especially being a full time student, I was used to having slow starts of the day and didn’t follow any time efficient quick morning routine⏰
Since I hate having hectic mornings, I choose to set my alarm a bit earlier than necessary, so I can really enjoy my breakfast and my morning coffee and have some time to wake up and get ready for the work day☕️

Being an absolute summer person, I still wonder if moving to Sweden was the best decision, every time I walk through the freezing cold🥶 But at least the sun rises super early when you’re this far up north, so I can enjoy my breakfast in the sun at 6am every morning😍 Lately, I’ve been having some vegan coconut joghurt with granola and some roasted apples with cinnamon, and yum!🤤 It’s so good!😋

This week, it almost felt like spring because it was super sunny every day☀️ I went for a walk along the water and it was so nice😍 Stockholm is such a beautiful city, I really cannot wait for the summer when I’ll be able to walk the streets in a light summer dress instead of layers and layers of warm winter clothes😂🥳
It’s so crazy to me, how it feels like yesterday when I got the job and started to realize that I would be moving to Sweden and now I’ve already been here for half a month and finished my first week at work🤭 Luckily, I had the smoothest experience ever and I wanna share some tips, that I think can be very helpful when you’re nervous about starting a new job!
5 tips on how to survive the first week on a new job:
Start building relationships – Take the initiative to introduce yourself to your new team members! This can be very hard, even for extroverts, but getting to know your collegues, having small talk or even lunch dates with them, will make you feel so much more comfortable at work because you will quickly feel like a part of the team and not like being “the new one” anymore!😊
Get organized and build habits – Whether it’s your morning routine at home, how you spend the first ten minutes after arriving at the office, or how you schedule small breaks throughout the day… Getting into habits really helps with feeling less insecure and more like you know what you’re doing👏🏼
Don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions – You just started. You are still new at the job. No one will expect you to already know everything or to do the impossible. Asking questions isn’t a sign of insecurity – actually, it is the exact opposite! It shows your managers and collegues that you are eager to learn and really want to understand everything you’re being taught💡
Set expectations with your manager – As I said, no one will expect you to do the impossible but knowing what exactly is expected from you will minimize your insecurity during your first weeks. Just schedule a meeting with your manager, where you talk about his/her expectations towards you and about what you think you will be able to achieve during your first days. If you openly communicate your struggles, no one will rip off your head, trust me! Just address it right away, so it won’t be an unpleasant surprise when everyone thinks you’re keeping up but then you don’t reach your goals. If you followed the previous step of building a relationship with your team mates, they will most probably be happy to help you out!😊
Show appreciation – for the people helping you! Whether they just answered a quick question, or took a task off your schedule – always be thankful and appreciative! Your team mates will feel like they did a really good thing with taking weight off your shoulders and they will be willing to do it again💪🏼
Alright, alright, alright! So far, so good😁 With these few tips, the blog post got quite long, so I’m just gonna end it here and wish you all a beautiful Sunday😊 Take care, loves💕
