WINTER IN MONACO

One reason for why I decided to move to Monaco, was to escape the grey northern winter. So this year, my winter did indeed look a tiny bit different…

But before I get into all the crazy decorations, let’s start from the beginning when the days just started to get shorter and the wind started to blow colder…

After I have gotten used to warm weather quite easily, I was happy when the infamous Café de Paris Monte Carlo reopened after being under construction for years and especially when I discovered they served an incredible chocolat chaud, a hot chocolat. Clear recommendation!

So with the weather getting colder, I used every chance I get to enjoy the sun during my lunch break. I often got a small thing to eat from the supermarket and then went here, to Solarium Beach. The name gives it away – as soon as the sun shines, it gets really hot here, no matter what month we are in.

Before they started setting up the Christmas market, we first got to enjoy a little fun fair right down by the port. While it really wasn’t an extraordinary fair, it was still nice to meet up with friends and just stroll around for a bit, while stuffing our faces with all the food they offered there.

After all, we are still in Monaco, so every now and then, there is some fancy event you can go to. Here, I visited a Charity Gala at the Fairmont Monte Carlo, hosted by Club Vivanova.

When I don’t have anything specific to do on the weekends, I like to watch the incredible sunrises from my balcony and then go for a walk, enjoying the fresh winter air. Living right by the beach is not only great in summer, I can tell you that!

Eventually, december came around and let me tell you – no one does Christmas decorations like Monaco! There is not only the Christmas market by the port (which is by the way the best Christmas market location ever!) but also every single store and street is so beautifully decorated, you really get into the spirit very easily.

My personal Christmas highlight was of course the Casino Square and the surrounding Monte Carlo area, where they really went all out with the lights and decorations. On cold and dark evenings it was sometimes hard to leave my cozy apartment again but every time I went for a walk through Monte Carlo and looked at the lights, it just made me so happy, I really can’t wait for Christmas anymore!

I will log out for this year, head back to Germany and spend some time with family and friends now. So I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year! Enjoy the time with your loved ones.
