A WEEKEND IN SAINT JEAN CAP FERRAT

This weekend, I did not only attend the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, I also went to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat for the first time and I think I found my new favorite place at the Côte d’Azur.

Wherever you look, you will find the most beautiful views, one more breathtaking than the other.

Instead of taking the bus, I decided to walk the last stretch and slowly make my way up the hill to the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. Even something as mundane as a car park looks absolutely stunning here.

We got ourselves an audio guide and explored the villa and its history. It really fascinated me how the villa was only built between 1905 and 1912, while its interiors and the furniture from the Louis XV and XVI eras made it seem way more antique. But then the audio guide reminded you how Béatrice de Rothschild, the baronesse of the villa, was a “modern woman” and prefered to drive her own cars.

Not only the villa but also the attached gardens were a work of art.
My newly engaged friend started wondering if it might be possible to privatize the garden for weddings and if so, how big of a fortune it would cost.
A girl can dream, I guess… 😀

We took our time exploring the beautiful gardens before making our way down to the port.

Down by the port, we chose a lovely restaurant to have lunch. Great food, good prices, and exceptional service. If you ever come to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, “Le Saint Jean” is a clear recommendation.

We ended the trip with a few hours by the beach. While the peninsula offers beautiful bays at every corner, we chose the famous Plage Paloma to relax for a while.

While we initially wanted to take the bus back, we ended up walking all the way to the train station because the bus just didn’t show up. Welcome to France 😀
It wasn’t bad at all though. With views like this, I could keep walking for hours.
It was a weekend filled with memories that will stay with me for a long time and I am already excited to go back very soon, since I have friends visiting next week and I definitely need to show them this special place I just completely fell in love with!
