To celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, we went to visit his dad who lives in Lausanne, Switzerland. We spent the most beautiful week around Lake Geneva.

Going for morning walks with this panoramic view… Another part of Switzerland I fell in love with instantly. 😍

We started the vacation with a little day trip to Annecy, a small town rigth behind the French-Swiss border.

We rented a boat and went out on Lac d’Annecy. To start a week by the lake right on the water was the perfect way to do it! If you ever fly in to Geneva and have some spare time on your hands, a quick trip to Annecy will definitely be worth it.

Luckily we had Lake Geneva right at our doorstep, so these were our daily views exploring the village of Morges, were we stayed for the week.

My boyfriend’s birthday rolled around, so we spent the day going to all of his favorite places around here. Of course, starting off with a morning walk by the lake.

First, we went to Le Dec in Chexbres. This restaurant and bar made it straight into my Top 5 locations of all time. Wherever you looked, the views were simply breathtaking. The picture speaks for itself.

For the afternoon and evening, we drove into Montreux. The city is known to have been Freddie Mercury’s favorite place and creative sanctuary. This statue of him honores the special bond he had to this beautiful place. We unfortunately missed the famous Montreux Jazz Festival by just a few weeks, but we still got lucky with the most amazing sunset. A perfect way to end the day. 😊

After two days at “home” in Morges, we decided to spend our remaining time with some exciting day trips. First, we went to Interlaken.

The town is known for its unique location between two lakes. We took the “Seilbahn” up to Harder Kulm, the mountain overlooking both lakes. Again, we got very lucky with the weather and spent and amazing day up there, enjoying the views.

Our next day trip took us to Geneva. We didn’t really have a plan for that day, so we just took it slow, strolled through the city and sat by the lake. To be honest, this wasn’t my favorite. After having seen multiple different places in Switzerland now, the city didn’t really do it for me. Sorry, Geneva. 🫣

Our final trip led us to Bern. And this one was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t expect much but I must say it really is a beautiful city. We only spent a day there, but I would be happy to come back some day. We met up with my friend from Zurich, so Bern was the perfect spot in between.
Overall, we had an amazing week in Switzerland. I am so happy we have family in Lausanne, friends in Zurich, and therefore always a reason to go back. 😊
